It's raining in The City today...

... so you get the Rainforest Exhibit!

These beauties greet you as you enter a steamy jungle of exotic butterflies, birds, plants, fish, huge spiders (enclosed, thank goodness! Shiver!), and other rainforest denizens.





The butterflies seem to love being photographed. Not so the shy little tree frogs. These guys were the only ones I spotted.


I was lucky to get this one shot of a bird at rest! They seemed almost never to alight. Several times I was startled by a streak of feathers shooting past my head from behind.





Looking back up into the dome from the aquarium level below. I didn't get a good shot of these monsters from above, but believe me, it would'nt compare to this view from below anyway!


Finally a look at the structure itself. Here is a shot showing the size of the dome. Below are the Living Roof, with some of the 80+ skylights, and the skylights from below.

Aren't those spiders creepy? I would hate to run into those out in the wild. In fact, I think it'd give me a heart attack.
