My beautiful birthday gift is a new version of the Serious Scarf, which is the name my talented friend Constantly Knitting came up with for her large, Man-Lace scarf patterns. Yep, you heard it here second, Man-Lace! Lemme tell ya right now, you ladies have lost your monopoly on wearing knitted lace.
Even though it is technically summer, this is still The City, and for the first time in thirty-five years I'm loving every draft in this 100+ year old apartment. Every evening when I put this on I feel a real sense of warm friendship as well as the warmth of the scarf. I'm looking forward to cooler days so I can wear this out on my walks.
Please check out her 200 Shawls Project blog to see some of the other beautiful creations she's made in the past year. Other benefits of a trip around her blog are witty writing, beautiful knitting pictures, free patterns and the most beguiling lopsided smile any young man ever sported.
You can also contact her for more information about this pattern and others. Her Artfire Shop has some of her beautiful shawls for sale, as well as some lovely Alice In Wonderland themed project bags.
I'd metioned that for her 1 year blogiversary contest she'd awarded a prize to every entrant, and here's what I received: A copy of her gorgeous Climbing Leaves Cowl pattern set (see what I mean about her handsome son and his winning smile?), which includes three patterns variations, 2 Great Northern Yarns 70% Mink/30% Cashmere in deep Forest Green, 1 Berroco Ultra Alpaca in not-quite-navy blue and some much appreceiated notions - Chibi Darning Needle Set with case, Jumbo Locking Stitch Markers, and a Susan Bates Knit-Chek Needle Sizer/Gauge Meter. Thank you for all this great swag! I admit I let the Serious Scarf overshadow the rest of the package, but I'm truly grateful for everything.

Thank you :-) Have bookmarked her blog :-)
Wow, that´s beautiful! :-)
I took the pic at Vertigo sky lounge in Chicago - great view but lousy drinks. I´ve never tasted a Gin & Tonic that tasted so little gin..! :-D
