A Thing Of Beauty Is A Joy Until The Scum Sucking Hellbound Festering-Wound-On-The-Backside-Of-A-Maggot Thieves Decide To Steal It.

Back from Mom's where I learned that the beautiful Pelican statue from this post had been stolen just the prior weekend. It was placed there about 4 years ago, at a cost to the city of about $27,000. Authorities suspect it will be sold for the scrap value of the bronze. Makes me want to strip my pictures of the Cave Man, Urn and Penguins from my last post, lest some brainless sewage-swilling spawn of a dysentery bacteria decides to go after them. Sorry.

Speaking of Mom... wait a minute, that doesn't sound right.

Speaking of BEING AT MOM'S, she was pleased with the mitts I adapted from the Climbing Leaves Cowl pattern set from Constantly Knitting at 200 Shawls Project. The cowl isn't really her style. She's never been one for turtlenecks or scarves or anything around her throat, but she's keeping it for a while to see if it grows on her as a kind of wide headband-earwarmer.

I made a hat while I was there, using the unlabeled blue wool fingering single from my last thrift shop score, plus some remnamts of metallic yarns from prior thifting.
Just stockinette, the yarn does the work. Sorry the pic isn't showing the sparkly,
but nobody is feeling particularly sparkly around here anyway... just a sign of the times I think.
This was done on US #4 needles, and it's been quite a while since I've gone below a 7, so it seemed to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just to get an inch done!

Yeah ...no sparkles here, all doom & gloom on the news, world's going to hell in a banker's handbasket... :-(

Love the hat! I'm imagining all the sparkles and it's beautiful!
