Sweet Home Days and Not At Home Days

First a big Thank You to Rosemarie of Sweet Home Days where I won this collection of knitting pattern books. Isn't that dog puppet the cutest? I may be making several - I've got lots of fun fur yarn waiting to be used up! The bag looks like it could be wonderful for stash-busting - the shape lends itself to stripes beautifully. As for the hats... OK here's the thing. I've fallen behind on hats for the homeless lately, though I did manage to pass out five in the last few weeks. I'm so tired of black acrylic. So I'm really thinking it's time to switch to kids hats - maybe for the Ronald McDonald House here in THE City, so this book is also very welcome. Thanks again Rosemarie!

BTW: Next time you go to the Science Center, can I tag along? We have the Exploratorium here, but I haven't gone in ages. Despite the fact that there's plenty of stuff to interest people of all ages - parents were giving me the fish-eye last time I went - a male adult alone... what's he up to?

Speaking of Mom, which we weren't, but news about Mom is why you're here, right? Her capsule endoscopy went perfectly smoothly, but we haven't gotten the results yet. The only real worries I had is that this is the second time in just a couple weeks that she's had to go thru the complete purging process. That's got to be a strain on an 85 year old, anemic body! She says she's still feeling much better that before the transfusion, so Hooray for that - BUT - I still plan to spend a bit more time at her house for a while. Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes. They are appreciated and returned. I hope you and yours are all doing well.

When I've had time here at home, where I haven't been so much lately, I've been working on re-knitting Mom's dress (this is another reason I've been slacking on hats)hoping to have it done by her birthday in late April. Progress has been made, but slowly, oh so very slowly.

Being a boring person, I have nothing else to say about myself, so ThThThThat's All, Folks!

Oops, I almost forgot the knitting I did at Mom's. This is my first dish/wash/whatever cloth in a slightly textured cotton. It measures about 8½" X 9½", using an unlabeled thrift shop yarn, so I don't know the brand. It's my own pattern, if anyone is interested let me know and I'll post it.

I've said before I'm not fond of knitting with cotton because of the non-stretchiness. That's still true - I think you really have to pay more attention to keep your gauge consistent, which makes knitting a chore not a relaxing hobby. But I will keep at it because I have so much cotton to use up, and someday I want to do a cotton sweater, so I've got to get used to it.

I don't get the knitted dishcloth thing ....I know how I treat my dishcloths, and I love what I knit too much to treat them the same way :-D

I love your dishcloth. I am sure it is going to make good use of itself!
